Leveraging AI (When You Don’t Have a Large Data Team)



Fortunately, we have a lot of data scientists at Yahoo that we leverage, and it’s a great luxury that I have a lot of the smaller one, a smaller companies that don’t have that, it’s a very specialized skill set. A lot of bigger companies don’t have a big data science resource, but I would say use things that are readily available out there, like your company or Google BigQuery and experiment with it. I mean, there’s a steep learning curve, and it’s not quite there yet. I mean, there’s going to be some fine tuning. If you’re focused on customer segmentation and want to focus on. Who are your most important customers, look at the K means clustering models that Google BigQuery has. If you’re looking at time series forecasts to do predictive analytics or forecasting like we’re doing, experiment with that. So I think using those readily available tools first and kind of getting a feel for it would probably be the best route.
